Tibetan Buddhist Monks in Yackandandah

In July 2008 my partner and I invited four Tibetan Buddhist Monks to our town.
We organised sponsors and the result was 7,500 people came to visit them in three weeks. At the end of the three weeks we had raised $30,000 to assist their Monastery in India. (We being Us, The people who visited and gave donations, bought from the monks shop and the sponsors whom gave from their hearts)
Dangerous Neighbours
During the time the Bushfires came towards Yackandandah we were busy here clearing our roof of leaves and tree branches and wetting down our whole property.
One of our neighbours has not cleaned their roof of old dried out leaves for over two years now.
We requested that this person do so as their property adjoins ours at the front, this request was ignored and they continued to operated their business regardless with no regard at all that their property could catch fire and thus burn us down and perhaps cause our deaths.
(I consider this to be somewhere between "Criminal Negligence & Attempted Murder")
There should be laws in place so that during the summer months everyone is compelled to clean up their act, instead of irresponsibly ignoring the potential danger without regard to other peoples property or life.
Not only that but another Business Manager locally remarked when I took 2 buckets of water from their tap "DON'T YOU HAVE ANY WATER OF YOUR OWN"
This person is a Volunteer for the State Emergency Service here and I thought at least she should have known better.
So much for neighbourly assistance.
It's a discrace and something should be done about these people.

The Victorian Bushfires
Yackandandah where I live had a fire that came close to town. It hung around for a couple of days threatening the area.
On Monday the wind changed and took the fire south of our town.
Sadly in the surrounding district 15 homes were destroyed and two lives lost.
Please donate to the Bushfire Appeal Fund.
